Elephant Life in U.S. - Sanctuaries

The two accredited U.S. elephant sanctuaries are setting the bar for captive elephant care in this country today.

The Performing Animal Welfare Society in California and The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee offer large, natural settings, with hundreds to thousands of acres over which elephants can roam, socialize and live a life closer to what nature intended.  The sactuaries provide permanent homes to elephants and offer a healing environment that has restored quality of life to elephants who were physically and psychologically debilitated after years of living incircuses or zoos.
